Some organisations boast about having great customer service, delivered by friendly staff. Perhaps in their staff meetings they always remind staff to give good customer service. Talking about good service doesn’t make it happen; thoughtfulness does. And you can’t tell someone how to be thoughtful.
Experience teaches some people nothing. A person can go from one relationship to another, and never figure out that the reason those relationships fail, is because they always make the same mistakes.
An employee may be involved in many successful or even failed projects, but never come out knowing much that can be applied to other projects. At least children learn not to touch the hot stove again.
For a number of months my beloved MacBook has been suffering from frequent hangs and crashes. I initially ignored it, thinking that I was simply pushing the machine to the edges of its capabilities. But in the back of my mind I knew better - Macs are more than capable of keeping up. Eventually, I added an item to my to do list - troubleshoot MacBook.
